Biography

Stacey has been honing his artistic and carving skills for well over twenty years. Born and raised in Utah, Stacey now resides and works in Springville, Utah. He creates his art works at his home studio, designing and carving most every day.

Stacey began developing his artistic skills with small wood craft projects, wood benches, and glass etching. His interest in carving began with designing and "chip carving" gun stocks. In 1993, Stacey focused his artistic interests toward wildlife carving. Specializing in Custom Carved Doors and Mantels.  Stacey is also proficient in carving fish, Ostrich Eggs,Signs, Gun Stocks,  Shore Birds, Humming Birds, and Tropical fish.

Painting skills are essential to the carver. Stacey’s attention to detail in both carving and painting is what makes his works unique and valuable. It is no surprise that in just the short time he has been carving, Stacey has been able to produce show quality and award winning sculptures. His works have been shown at the Utah Arts Council Show and at the exclusive Spring Salon show at the Springville Art Museum, where only 200 out of over 800 entrants are accepted for exhibit.

Original Carvings and Limited Edition reproductions by Stacey are now available for sale. The amazing detail of the original carving is captured in a special resign casting. Each reproduction is hand painted in the exquisite style and detail that Stacey has developed, and is then hand signed and numbered by the artist. Works by Stacey J. Mitchell are sure to be cherished by collectors and wildlife enthusiasts for years to come.
